At Albert Falls and Shongweni Dam and Game Reserve, game viewing drives reveal all sorts of creatures of the wild - BIG and small.

View Game such as Zebra
The duration of the game viewing drive is +/-3 hours and our experienced guides will serve you coffee and rusks when you stop to listen to the sounds of the African night. You may encounter the elusive bush baby, genet, jackal, bush buck, many species of antelope and other Big Game.

Shongweni Dam and Game Reserve you may even enjoy a "meal in the bush", try the "Champagne Breakfast Safari" or a "Snacks at Sunset Drive" or a "Boerewors Night Adventure".

Game Viewing and Nature Trails

Nature Trails

View Game such as Rhino
The Nyoni Trail at Albert Falls Dam and Game Reserve is designed to allow visitors a chance to explore on foot. The nature trail, 4 km long and reasonably easy walking, meanders along the slopes of Notuli Hill, allowing breathtaking views of the dam and Karkloof Mountains.

It then passes through open grassland and woodland offering the opportunity to observe many bird species and a variety of antelope and zebra. The trail is well marked and maps are available at the Visitor Reception.

The Tamboti Trail at Inanda Dam and Resort is a short self-guided nature trail wandering through part of Mahlabathini Park allowing visitors a chance to view some of the wildlife including many bird species and a variety of plant life. Maps are available at the gate.


The Ntini Trail at Shongweni Dam and Game Reserve offers fine examples of different habitat types which includes; grassland, combretum woodland, valley bushveld, riverine forest and spectacular cliffs. Due to the diversity of vegetation visitors may see a variety if wildlife in the reserve.

View Game such as BuckGiraffe, zebra, kudu, wildebeest, waterbuck, impala and a wide variety of bird species are often sighted (maybe even the elusive Narina Trogon). This nature trail is not strenuous as long as you walk slowly and observe. It allows you to discover the Shongweni Game Reserve in an interesting, sensory way.

Every precaution is taken by the management of Msinsi's Reserves to ensure our visitors safety on our nature trails. Please be assured that rules, regulations and restricted areas have been set to ensure that all guests enjoy their visit, please obey them. Please also remember that ALL wild animals are potentially dangerous, but viewed quietly from a respectful distance will delight and educate.
